CMS and RBC Dominion Securities Announce Partnership for Canandian Version of BondEdge Software Los Angeles, CA, August 11, 1999 - Capital Management Sciences, a division of Data Broadcasting Corporation (Nasdaq:DBCC), today announced a partnership with RBC Dominion Securities, the investment banking arm of Royal Bank of Canada (NYSE: RY), to jointly develop and market a Canadian version of BondEdge, the leading fixed income portfolio risk management software used by more than 500 institutional investment firms in the U.S. RBC Dominion Securities will use Canadian BondEdge for fixed income research and to analyze the RBC DS Canadian Bond Market Indices, widely used by Canadian investment managers. RBC DS will also provide CMS with Canadian bond index data as well as daily prices and terms and conditions on Canadian bonds including Canadas, Provincials, Municipals and Corporates. CMS will incorporate the RBC DS data into the Canadian BondEdge system and will use the pricing data to populate valuation models. The first release of the new Canadian BondEdge system is scheduled for September 30, 1999 and will be sold to institutional investors in Canada through CMS's direct sales force. Canadian bond portfolio managers will be able to see a detailed comparison of their portfolios against the RBC DS Canadian Bond Indices or against another benchmark portfolio. All portfolio analyses will reflect the sector breakdowns and quality ratings used in the Canadian market. Portfolio managers will be able to derive fair valuations of their fixed income portfolios using the data provided by RBC DS in conjunction with the software analytics provided by CMS. The September release will include a securities database of Canadian bonds, RBC DS bond indices, portfolio vs. index reports, custom report writing, simulations, what-if analyses and portfolio history tracking. The second phase of the release will include Total Return Optimizer and Performance Attribution modules. "Over the years, CMS has provided BondEdge to a number of Canadian institutions and is very enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve a wider audience in the fixed income portfolio management community. The partnership with RBC Dominion Securities combines the strengths of both firms, allowing us to offer a portfolio management system that combines relevant analytics with industry standard Canadian data and valuations," said Laurie Adami, President of CMS. "The RBC DS Canadian Bond Indices have gained broad acceptance in the marketplace since their launch in 1993 with data starting in 1987. This new partnership with the U.S. leader in fixed income analytical software will provide RBC DS and Canadian bond managers access to superior tools, designed specifically for the Canadian market, for portfolio analysis against these indices or other benchmark portfolios. We look forward to using the Canadian BondEdge software for our own research and we believe the software has the combination of sophistication, flexibility, and user friendliness desired by Canadian bond managers," said Marlene Puffer, Head of Fixed Income Analytics at RBC Dominion Securities.
